*Why do you want to travel?* 🌎 This is a pretty *Why do you want to travel?* 🌎
This is a pretty common question that knocks at my doors, every now and then!
While I have a thousand reasons for that, one of them definitely is because I wanna know all that the textbooks never taught me!
I want to see where the world first started. The Ottoman Empire, the Greeks, the Romans, the Elizabethan Age, the French Revolution, World War I & II, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and many other historical moments about which I’ve just read a line or two – or maybe a paragraph at best! I want to visit all those places that have witnessed history!
I want to spend time walking around the Eiffel Tower, the Berlin Wall, the Louvre, the Statue of Liberty, the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, and every other monument that was once inspired by war or peace. These are the places where the destinies of several people have been written and history has been marked, and that right there is a huge reason as to why I want to travel the world.
What's your reason to travel?

The last 15 days passed by the wink of an eye. Even though I had a companion, she majorly refused to tag along at most places and chose to chill by herself rather than hopping around with me.
No complaints, 'coz the fact that she agreed to this trip meant much to me!
So there I was, roaming around and acing my selfie skills, with some amazing backgrounds!
P.S: For a couple of times, I succeeded in pulling her out too! The last photo is proof of us goofing together!

Cappadocia's hot air balloon experience has become Cappadocia's hot air balloon experience has become one of the most common travel bucket list things - thanks to Instagram and the zillion photos that we tend to scroll through, every single day! Well, I was no exception. I had imagined myself seamlessly floating above the historic cave dwellings of Goreme Town at sunrise, and wondered what a fairytale scene it would be! 🌄
And when I finally took the ride, it felt surreal. As the horizon was painted in all shades of crimson & scarlet, hundreds of balloons dotted the sky. 🪂
*Here are a few things to remember, if you're planning to go for hot air ballooning in Cappadocia*
- These balloons don't fly every day! (Yeah, it totally depends on the weather & the wind speed, so make sure to have at least a couple of days in hand)
- There are several tour companies hosting the rides. You need not book online or in advance. The best option is to book it from your hotel, and they'll arrange for your pick up & drop as well.
- The rides happen early in the morning, around 4.30 AM.
- The flight lasts for an hour, but the whole process takes a couple of hours.
- The price mostly varies between 180 USD to 250 USD (depending on the number of people they're taking in one basket).

From getting roasted in Amritsar as we walked down the Golden Temple, to witnessing the oozing patriotism in the hearts of the people at Wagah, followed by gorging on paranthas and tandoori chicken - the weekend passed by the wink of an eye.

about me

Hey there, you adventurous & wanderlust-bitten soul! Welcome to my blog and thanks for stopping by!

I'm Riyanka, a happy-go-lucky gypsy soul who's always on her toes, mostly daydreaming about the faraway lands and wondering 'Where To Next?' I essentially focus on backpacking and budget trips, slow traveling, eco-tourism, and volunteering journeys where one can have a more immersive local experience. I love to weave stories with unfiltered words and emotions, that are from my own journeys and experiences, sprinkled with the learnings from the roads.

An absolute foodie and a die-hard ‘mountain-aholic’, you’ll mostly find me sitting at mountainside cafes on weekends, binging on momos and Maggi but occasionally, I love to get drunk by the beaches as well!
