Bhutan, a Buddhist kingdom on the Himalayas’ eastern edge, is known for its monasteries, fortresses (or dzongs), and dramatic landscapes that range from subtropical plains to steep mountains and valleys.
Known as ‘the Happiest Country in the World’, it was the first country I traveled to, along with a dear friend. I was there for nearly a month – hopping from now mountain-town to another, attending the beautiful Tsechu Festival, and meeting some of the kindest people on the roads.
