I’ve known her for the last 24 years (yes, that’s almost a lifetime!), but somehow, we had never travelled together. That finally changed when we decided to take a trip to Thailand! We had put everything else on hold, booked our flights, and headed to Thailand.
To say it was unforgettable would be an understatement. There’s something incredibly special about travelling with your best friend. You laugh harder, worry less, and create memories that stay with you long after the trip is over. Having someone who knows you inside out by your side gives you the confidence to embrace every adventure, whether it’s getting lost in a new city, trying unfamiliar food, or chasing spontaneous plans.
Of course, travel has a funny way of testing even the strongest friendships. Long days, unexpected hiccups, and different travel styles can challenge your patience. But if you’re lucky, those moments only strengthen your bond. That’s exactly what happened to us! We came back with countless stories, endless inside jokes, and a friendship that somehow grew even stronger than before.
✔ Woke up to paradise at a stunning beachfront resort in Railay Beach, Krabi, where limestone cliffs met crystal-clear waters.
✔ Wandered through the lively night market just a two-minute walk from our stay, feasting on freshly grilled seafood, tropical fruits, and irresistible local delicacies.
✔ Took a speedboat to Phi Phi Don and spent a couple of blissful days staying on a scenic hillside resort, overlooking the island’s impossibly turquoise waters.
✔ Explored the breathtaking Phi Phi archipelago, including the iconic Maya Bay, whose emerald lagoon looked every bit as magical as we’d imagined.
✔ Soaked up the sun on the powdery white sands of Bamboo Island and jumped into the emerald waters around Koh Lanta and Loh Samah Bay for unforgettable swims.
✔ Snorkelled alongside baby blacktip reef sharks, clownfish, and countless vibrant tropical fish in some of Thailand’s clearest waters.
✔ Watched the mischievous residents of Monkey Beach steal the show with their playful antics.
✔ Spent our evenings dining at charming seaside restaurants on Phi Phi Don, making friends with fellow travellers, dancing barefoot at beach parties, and ending the night with the island’s spectacular fire shows.
✔ Cruised back to Krabi, soaking in one last panorama of towering limestone karsts rising from the Andaman Sea.
✔ Indulged in Bangkok’s legendary street food scene along Khao San Road, where every corner promised another delicious bite.
✔ Explored Bangkok’s magnificent temples, admired their intricate architecture, and shopped until our suitcases and our feet couldn’t take any more!
That barely scratches the surface of our week together. It was chaotic, spontaneous, laughter-filled, and wonderfully unforgettable. Looking back, deciding to finally take that long-overdue trip with my best friend was one of the best decisions we ever made. Some journeys give you beautiful photographs; others leave you with stories you’ll be telling for a lifetime. This one gave us both!

Our adventure actually began long before we boarded the flight. It started with a simple idea. I suggested we go island hopping in Thailand, and she agreed almost instantly.
What followed were weeks of endless WhatsApp conversations, late-night planning sessions, and Instagram posts being shared back and forth as we shortlisted beaches, cafés, viewpoints, and hidden gems we wanted to visit. Every photo we saved made us even more excited for the journey ahead.
We planned the entire trip together, making sure the itinerary reflected both our interests. From picking colour-coordinated outfits and matching bikinis to booking speedboat tours around the islands, exploring Bangkok’s beautiful temples, and hunting down the city’s best cafés, every little detail became part of the experience.
Looking back, the planning was just as enjoyable as the trip itself. It was never only about choosing destinations. It was about dreaming together, building anticipation, and counting down the days until we could finally set off. Somewhere between all those messages, shared travel inspiration, and endless excitement, I was reminded why we’re best friends in the first place.
When you travel with someone who knows you inside out, the adventure begins long before you reach your destination!

Believe me, getting from Chennai to Krabi was no short journey! Between multiple flights, airport layovers, and changing modes of transport, it took us nearly ten hours to finally arrive. Had I been travelling alone, I probably would have spent half the journey feeling restless and counting down the hours.
Instead, time seemed to fly by with her!
We filled every moment with laughter, clicked countless selfies at airports, wandered through duty-free stores without buying much, struck up conversations with strangers while waiting for our tuk-tuk, and watched the sea come into view with the kind of excitement only a new adventure can bring. Before we knew it, we had reached our destination, wondering where all those hours had gone.
That’s one of the greatest joys of travelling with your best friend. They have an uncanny ability to turn even the most ordinary moments into memories. With the right company, the journey becomes just as enjoyable as the destination itself.

Let’s be honest. The perfect travel photo rarely happens on the first try. It often takes several attempts, a little patience, and someone who’s willing to keep clicking until you finally say, “That’s the one!”
That is exactly why travelling with your best friend is such a blessing. She never complained about taking “just one more photo,” even when that one photo turned into twenty. Whether we were posing on the pristine beaches of Koh Phi Phi, soaking in the views from our hotel’s infinity pool, or wandering through Bangkok’s magnificent temples, she somehow knew the best angles, the right lighting, and all the little tricks to make every picture look its best.
Of course, the favour went both ways. I happily became her personal photographer, cheering her on as she struck pose after pose until we had the perfect shot. Looking back, those impromptu photoshoots were just as much fun as the places themselves. And every picture we took now feels like a little time capsule, bringing back the laughter and excitement of that unforgettable week together.

As the sun dipped below the horizon and the sky transformed into shades of purple, pink, and scarlet, we sat by the beach with nothing to distract us except the sound of the waves. Away from our routines and endless to-do lists, we finally had the time to catch up on everything life had kept interrupting.
We reminisced about our school days, laughed over old memories, spoke about relationships that had shaped us, shared our hopes for the future, and reflected on how fortunate we were to be sitting there together after all these years.
Somewhere in the middle of those conversations, I felt tears welling up without even realising it. It wasn’t because anything was wrong. It was because I was overwhelmed with gratitude. In that quiet moment by the sea, I realised that this incredible woman, who had already been my best friend for so many years, had somehow found an even deeper place in my heart.

I’ll admit it without hesitation. My trip to Thailand would never have been the same if she hadn’t been there!
She had an incredible talent for finding humour in every situation. Even after airport security checked her luggage twice and confiscated some of her cosmetics, she somehow managed to laugh it off and crack the silliest jokes. Whenever I started losing my patience, she always knew exactly what ridiculous thing to say to make me smile again.
There were plenty of unforgettable moments along the way. She somehow managed to order the least enjoyable cocktail at one of the fanciest restaurants in Phi Phi Don. She even had us laughing uncontrollably after struggling in the water despite wearing a life jacket. Those little mishaps, which could have easily become frustrating, turned into stories we still laugh about today.
Looking back, I realise that it wasn’t just Thailand that made the trip so special. It was sharing every moment with someone who could turn ordinary situations into unforgettable memories.

On our way back from Bangkok, I sat on the flight next to her, thinking about how that one week-long holiday had completely changed the dynamics of our friendship, and it felt wonderful.
Have you ever been on a trip with your BFF? I’m sure it must have been a crazy experience for you, too, right? And if you haven’t, you should start planning ASAP! Whether you want to go on a month-long workation, a quick weekend getaway, a trekking adventure in the Himalayas, or a relaxing beach staycation, convince your best friend to join you.
Trust me when I say this, it’s going to be one of the best trips of your life, and you’ll make memories that will last a lifetime!
