‘Ilish’ (Hilsa) isn’t just a fish, rather it’s an emotion for Bongs living across the globe. When Sir Radcliff drew the line of partition between the two Bengals, he also divided the river – with India having Ganga & Padma flowing through Bangladesh. I guess …
Asia, the largest continent, is a mysterious land hosting 60% of the world’s total population. It boasts the magnificent Himalayas, lush green rainforests, and vast stretches of deserts. Being in love with the snow-clad Himalayas, unique cultures, warm people, diverse topography, colorful festivities, and delicious cuisines, I have embarked on some of my best journeys exploring the nooks and corners of India and venturing beyond its borders to Southeast Asian countries.
My first international trip took me to Bhutan, known as the ‘Happiest Country in the World.’ With a month to spend there, I ticked off nearly everything on my bucket list. Next, I traveled to Singapore, where the hospitality of my friend’s cousins made it feel like a ‘home away from home’ during my vacation. In Nepal, I experienced a breathtaking ‘Mountain Flight’ to get a closer look at Mt. Everest, followed by a backpacking adventure through Cambodia, wandering amidst the fascinating ruins of Angkor.
In 2019, my childhood BFF and I had a blast island hopping in Thailand, and later, we joyously kicked off the New Year 2020 in Vietnam. Recently, in December 2021, I soaked in the sunshine and beach vibes during a trip to Sri Lanka. In March 2022, I planned a workation in Bangladesh, taking the opportunity to explore the land from which my grandmother hailed.
As the years passed, I slowly fulfilled my travel dreams, immersing myself in various cultures and weaving beautiful stories from my experiences. Each journey has been a step closer to discovering the diverse wonders of Asia, and I look forward to many more adventures that lie ahead.
